Why Khoj exists

Room discovery should not waste people’s time or money.

Khoj began with a familiar Kathmandu experience: spending days travelling between areas, paying intermediaries, and still having no guarantee of finding a suitable room.

Our approach

We provide a simple place for community members to publish available rooms and for seekers to contact them directly. Searching and ordinary posting are free, and neither action requires an account. Brokers may not use Khoj to advertise services or collect commissions from room seekers.

What we do not promise

Khoj does not inspect properties, verify ownership, or guarantee availability. Our rules prohibit broker listings, but we cannot independently verify every poster’s role. We use expiration, reports, rate limits, and human moderation to reduce abuse, while asking everyone to verify details before making decisions.
